Emergency Room Nurse Zodiac Healthcare Dunkirk, NY Job Summary:

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department (ED) based on the application of scientific nursing principles. The ER RN is responsible for assessing patients, providing emergency medical care, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to stabilize patients in critical or urgent conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Triage patients based on severity of condition using established guidelines. Provide emergency nursing care, including wound care, IV placement, medication administration, CPR, and life support. Monitor and record patient vital signs, symptoms, and reactions to treatments or medications. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans. Maintain accurate, detailed reports and patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulations. Operate and monitor medical equipment including defibrillators, ventilators, and cardiac monitors. Prepare patients for transport and assist with emergency procedures such as intubation or central line placement.
