$86,650.99 – $134,309.04 The Wound OstomyContinence (WOC) Nurse is an expert in the nursing care of thosewith wound, ostomy, and continence needs, who supports the deliveryof patient care and facilitates patient progress and transitionsacross the institution and throughout the acute care stay. The WOCNurse functions as a care provider directly through hands-onclinical support and indirectly as educators, consultants andclinical experts.

Hourly Rate:

$38.53 – $63.58 Job DescriptionAssessment—collects pertinent data and information relative to thehealth or situation of the healthcare consumer with wound, ostomy,and/or continence care needs. Diagnosis—analyzes assessment data todetermine actual or potential diagnoses, problems, or issuesrelated to wound, ostomy, and/or continence care needs. OutcomesIdentification—identifies expected outcomes for a plan that isindividualized to the healthcare consumer or the situationinvolving wound, ostomy, and/or continence care issues. Contributesto efforts to improve healthcare efficiency while attainingpositive outcomes. Collects and analyzes data, including culturalinfluences and factors, to monitor the quality of WOC nursingpractice. Collaborates with the interprofessional team to implementquality improvement plans and interventions to enhance wound,ostomy, and/or continence care. Provides critical review and/orevaluation of policies, procedures, and guidelines to improve thequality of wound, ostomy, and/or continence care. Assesses thepatient’s wound, ostomy, and/or continence care needs; and theavailable resources to achieve the desired outcomes. Assists theorganization in factoring costs, risks, and benefits in decisionsabout care through participation in Value Analysis for productdetermination, NPWT costs, and specialty bed purchase/rental costs.

Assists the patient in identifying and securing appropriateservices to address wound, ostomy, and/or continence care needs forpatients. Identifies the impact of resource allocation on thepotential for harm, complexity of the task, and desired outcomes.

Additional Job Description/Requirements Graduated from anaccredited WOC Nursing Education Program with a plan to betri-certified within 1 year of graduation. Bachelor’s Degree withmajor in nursing required. Master’s in Nursing preferred orcurrently obtaining Master’s in Nursing with plan for completionwithin 5 years. Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license. 3-5years of experience in nursing. Able to communicate effectively atall levels within the organization and with external customers andagencies. Creates a collegial and collaborative environment amongall members of the healthcare team. Articulates clear expectationswith staff and members of the patient care team. Demonstratesresponsibility and accountability for decisions. Identifiesproblems, gathers data, establishes facts, and draws validconclusions.
