INFECTION PREVENTIONIST, OSHA & EMPLOYEE HEALTH REGISTERED NURSE
Jericho Road Community Health Center is actively seeking an Infection Preventionist, OSHA & Employee Health RN . This position is full-time, within the Nursing department, working at our Barton and Breckenridge locations (travel may be required to other office locations). Responsibilities:
Ensure clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, state/local regulations, and patient satisfaction Complete patient charting and ensure all patient records are current/complete with strong attention to detail and accuracy Administer vaccinations according to NYS and CDC guidelines for adult and pediatric patients Administer IM medications as ordered Conduct telephonic communication with patients regarding test results and follow up care needs Maintain strong and professional working relationships with Department of Health in collaboration ensuring patient care is comprehensive and thorough Responsible for the identification, evaluation, confirmation and monitoring of all infections/infectious diseases based on the current State and Federal Regulations and Centers for Disease Control Standards Promote the policies of the Infection Control Program by providing a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff through prevention and risk reduction interventions Support provider team and QA in the areas of case findings, surveillance, reporting, analysis and interpretation, inspection, prevention, education, consultation and recommendations Manage Regulated Medical Waste across the organization Research and report on CDC guidelines and monitor upcoming trends, reporting findings to supervisor and clinical leadership as requested Ensure equipment logs are completed in accordance to the DOH regulations and report compliance to the Quality/Risk committee Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure compliance with NYS Article 28 requirements Conduct OSHA training for new employees and annual OSHA training for all employees in collaboration with the Director of Talent Development Maintain and keep records for Hand Washing stations, Sharps containers, chemicals, Biohazardous Waste containers, Eye Wash stations, First Aid Kit, CPR masks, etc. Enforce compliance of Regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, EPA, etc.), including organizational policies and procedures Schedule, coordinate and implement Stericycle inspection annual with necessary external partner Work in collaboration with human resources to track, remedy and support workers compensation cases, needlesticks and staff exposures and rates of infection Function as a member of the Patient Safety and Risk Management Meeting providing monthly OSHA updates Complete form 300, titled the log of work-related injuries and illnesses, determining whether an injury or illness meets the recordkeeping requirements issued by OSHA, and fill in the relevant information for each incident. Attend annual OSHA Training for Medical and Dental practices and be able to report on any changes in regulations to supervisor Collaborate with and recommend additional training for individuals through LMS system with Director of Talent Development and Nurse Educator as needed
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a current NYS state licensure as a RN. Maintains credentials, attends seminars, and fulfills all licensure requirements for continuing education. Maintains CPR certification Two or more years of professional experience in managing Infection Prevention and OSHA processes and procedures in a healthcare setting preferred OSHA Certification a plus Demonstrated ability and familiarity with tools, technology, and systems found within health care environments (such as Basic Computer Skills, Electronic Medical Records, Experience with Medent EMR a plus).
Hourly Rate:
$28-35 an hour. Individual compensation is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other position related components.
