Pre-licensure graduate of anaccredited nursing program who actively participates in SSM HealthNew Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Under the direction of RN,provides care to patients within scope of role and professionalstandards. Responsible for the delivery of age appropriate care forassigned patients with a wide variety of medical conditions. NurseResidents in the state of Oklahoma can perform responsibilitiesdesignated below (Oklahoma). Nurse Residents in Wisconsin, Illinoisand Missouri can perform all responsibilities listed.
JobResponsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Underthe direction of the
RN Preceptor:
Performs delegated tasks basedon demonstrated competence in performing nursing care activitiesfor population served. Delegated specialized tasks may includeanything for which training was received in the approved nursingprogram. In the state of Oklahoma, this does not includetasks/skills which must be performed by a licensed nurse. Performspatient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual,cultural, and age appropriate needs of the patients, including theassessment of nutrition, pain management, and signs/symptoms ofabuse or neglect in order to develop, evaluate and modify patient’splan of care. Develops a realistic, comprehensive patient familyeducation plan, using appropriate resources and methods ofinstruction and provides patient/family health education andcoaching. Completes accurate and timely documentation (Oklahoma),including, but not limited to, the processing of physician orders,in accordance with policies and procedures. Monitors and evaluatesdelivery of nursing care given by team members based on patientneeds and professional judgement. Collaborates with physicians andother health care professionals regarding all aspects of patientcare. Participates in training to understand and perform patientcare. (Oklahoma) Completes competency requirements satisfactorily.(Oklahoma) Completes training as required; seeks assistance andasks questions as needed to learn and understand role. (Oklahoma)As part of the SSM Health nursing department, I will demonstratethe professional nursing standards defined in the professionalpractice model.
