The postcardiothoracic surgical unit is a specialty unit consisting ofpatients receiving cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiaccatheterization, structural heart interventional procedures,electrophysiology procedures, and patients that require a higherlevel of telemetry monitoring. Weoffer room to grow in your nursing practice and welcome all toapply, from new RN graduates to experienced RNs looking to expandtheir skill set. Advanced skills preferred but not required:

Cardiac rhythm interpretation and management, familiarity withvasoactive & antiarrhythmic medications, and management of chesttubes.

• Implements physician orders, administers medications,starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures and special tests, anddocument treatment as required by company policy andlocal/state/federal rules and regulations.
• Orders, interprets,and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’conditions.
• Assesses and evaluates patient needs for, andresponses to, care rendered.
• Applies sound nursing judgment inpatient care management decisions.
• Provides primary and emergencycare for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Administers over-the-counter and prescription medications asordered.
• Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan ofCare for all patients.
• Directs and guides ancillary personnel andmaintain standards of professional nursing. Minimum Qualifications
• Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which aDiploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred
• Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license
• Obtains andmaintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Minimum of 1-3 years of previousclinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care
• Excellentcommunication, prioritization, organizational and time-managementskills
• Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, andproblem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrates ability toapply in support of departmental and patient care qualityimprovement.
