Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the MS/Tele unit at a Short-Term Acute Care facility in New York. As an RN in this unit, you will provide high-quality care to patients on medical-surgical and telemetry units. You will work in a supportive environment with PCTs to assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, and basic patient care, while also managing complex tasks like PICC and central line care. You will be responsible for delivering patient care, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients, and managing medical telemetry equipment. The RN will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, contributing to a high standard of care and positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care in the MS/Tele unit, managing a typical patient ratio of 5:1 during day/evening shifts, with potential for 6:1. Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs and telemetry data, responding to any changes in patient condition. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and compliance with care plans. Perform duties related to central line and PICC line management, including care and troubleshooting. Work closely with PCTs who assist with vital signs, glucose checks, EKGs, and daily living activities. Collaborate with an in-house phlebotomy team to handle all peripheral lab draws. Float between like units within your scope of practice as needed. Maintain accurate documentation in Epic, documenting assessments, treatments, and changes in patient conditions. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that patient confidentiality is maintained. Participate in facility initiatives to improve patient care and hospital quality standards.

Certification & Requirements:
Required Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Telemetry experience required. Epic experience required for first-time US travelers.

Education & Experience:

Active RN license. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry unit. Must be able to float within scope to meet facility needs. First-time US travelers are welcome, provided they have Epic experience.

Scheduling & Availability:
Weekend Requirement:

Every other weekend (EOW).

On-Call Requirement:

No on-call required. Time Off (RTO): Please keep RTO close to 1 week.
