$86,650.99 – $134,309.04 The Wound OstomyContinence (WOC) Nurse is an expert in the nursing care of thosewith wound, ostomy, and continence needs, who supports the deliveryof patient care and facilitates patient progress and transitionsacross the institution and throughout the acute care stay. The WOCNurse functions as a care provider directly through hands-onclinical support and indirectly as educators, consultants andclinical experts. Job Description Assessment—collects pertinentdata and information relative to the health or situation of thehealthcare consumer with wound, ostomy, and/or continence careneeds. Diagnosis—analyzes assessment data to determine actual orpotential diagnoses, problems, or issues related to wound, ostomy,and/or continence care needs. Outcomes Identification—identifiesexpected outcomes for a plan that is individualized to thehealthcare consumer or the situation involving wound, ostomy,and/or continence care issues. Contributes to efforts to improvehealthcare efficiency while attaining positive outcomes. Collectsand analyzes data, including cultural influences and factors, tomonitor the quality of WOC nursing practice. Collaborates with theinterprofessional team to implement quality improvement plans andinterventions to enhance wound, ostomy, and/or continence care.

Provides critical review and/or evaluation of policies, procedures,and guidelines to improve the quality of wound, ostomy, and/orcontinence care. Assesses the patient’s wound, ostomy, and/orcontinence care needs; and the available resources to achieve thedesired outcomes. Assists the organization in factoring costs,risks, and benefits in decisions about care through participationin Value Analysis for product determination, NPWT costs, andspecialty bed purchase/rental costs. Assists the patient inidentifying and securing appropriate services to address wound,ostomy, and/or continence care needs for patients. Identifies theimpact of resource allocation on the potential for harm, complexityof the task, and desired outcomes. Additional JobDescription/Requirements Graduated from an accredited WOC NursingEducation Program with a plan to be tri-certified within 1 year ofgraduation. Bachelor’s Degree with major in nursing required.

Master’s in Nursing preferred or currently obtaining Master’s inNursing with plan for completion within 5 years. Must hold currentNYS Registered Nurse license. 3-5 years of experience in nursing.
