• Job Summary:

• We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Circulating Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team.

The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of surgical procedures. The Circulating Nurse will be responsible for managing the overall environment of the operating room, coordinating activities, and providing direct support to the surgical team while ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

• Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment:

• Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments, including reviewing patient history, allergies, and overall health status to ensure patient safety before surgery.

• Surgical Preparation:

• Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and medications are readily available and functioning properly.

• Collaborative Teamwork:

• Serve as the primary liaison between the surgical team (surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists) and other healthcare staff, ensuring clear communication and coordination of care throughout the surgical procedure.

• Documentation:

• Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including surgical counts, medication administration, and any incidents or changes in the patient’s condition.

• Infection Control:

• Adhere to strict infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment within the operating room.

• Patient Advocacy:

• Monitor the patient’s well-being throughout the surgical procedure, ensuring their safety and comfort while advocating for their needs.

• Emergency Response:

• Be prepared to act quickly and effectively in emergency situations, providing necessary interventions as directed.

• Postoperative Coordination:

• Assist in preparing the patient for transfer to the recovery area, ensuring all relevant information is communicated effectively to postoperative staff.

• Qualifications:

• Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) acceptable.

• Licensure:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.

• Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a perioperative or surgical setting preferred. Experience as a Circulating Nurse or in related roles is highly desirable.

• Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required. Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) is a plus.

• Skills:

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Working Conditions:

• This position may require standing for extended periods, lifting and moving patients, and exposure to various surgical and sterile environments. Must be available to work flexible hours during Monday through Friday.
