This advanced practice role plays a crucial part in assessing, diagnosing, and stabilizing patients experiencing acute behavioral health crises. Working alongside a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, the CPEP Nurse Practitioner ensures timely and patient-centered psychiatric care during the 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM shift (Monday-Friday).

Key Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for patients in acute crisis Initiate and manage treatment plans, including psychopharmacologic interventions and crisis stabilization Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other emergency department staff to ensure coordinated care Facilitate appropriate referrals for inpatient or outpatient psychiatric follow-up Document clinical assessments and interventions in accordance with legal and regulatory standards

Qualifications:

Current New York State Nurse Practitioner license Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) Experience in psychiatric emergency care, crisis intervention, or acute behavioral health preferred Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to perform under pressure Excellent communication and collaboration skills
