Non Exempt PrimaryFunction Responsible for rendering professional nursing serviceseither directly or indirectly for a defined group of patientsaccording to the hospital’s philosophy of patient care.

Responsibilities 1. Provide direct patient care includingexamination and treatment under an approved protocol. Evaluateoutcomes and adjust nursing care processes as needed to ensureoptimal patient care. 2. Utilize the nursing process to implementgoal-directed nursing care for a defined group of patients. 3.Monitor medical condition of assigned patients at all times andreport to Nursing Supervisor Physician or designee any patient careproblems changes in condition or unexpected occurrences. 4. Educatepatients/family regarding condition treatment discharge/transferplanning and follow up examinations if needed. Seek feedback frompatients/family to evaluate understanding and document. 5. Performa variety of nursing skills in compliance with physician orders andestablished Hospital policies and procedures. 6. Communicate withphysicians and other departments to consult on patient status andto ensure continuity of care. 7. Respond to cases ofcardiopulmonary arrest fire disaster or other emergencies inaccordance with established procedures. 8. Maintain patient’smedical records in an orderly manner and document all care providedand significant information legibly accurately and completely. 9.Provide clinical leadership for other staff members and participatein the orientation of new personnel. 10. Job Qualifications and SpecificationsGraduation from an accredited nursing program and a minimum of sixmonths job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI StateLicensure is also required. BSN or enrollment in a BSN programrequired for external candidates. Physical Environment The job istypically required to perform work through eye/hand/footcoordination most of a normal workday. The job is also regularlyrequired to be exposed to a work environment which requires safetyprecautions to be taken.
