Required Qualifications:

One year of recentexperience as a Pediatric ER RN Valid RN license in compliance withstate regulations Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification PALS(AHA/ARC) or

ENPC Certification Preferred Qualifications:

NRPCertification Other certifications and licenses may be required forthis position

Summary:

The Pediatric ER RN provides comprehensiveemergency care to pediatric patients in a fast-paced clinicalsetting. This role involves assessing pediatric patient health,administering emergency treatments, and collaborating withmultidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality,patient-centered care for children and adolescents. The PediatricER RN demonstrates advanced clinical skills, effectivecommunication with children and families, and adherence to thehighest standards of patient safety, ethics, and professionalexcellence in emergency situations.

Essential Work Functions:

Explains emergency procedures and treatments to pediatric patientsand their families in an age-appropriate manner to fosterunderstanding and alleviate fear Administers prescribed andemergent medications and treatments in accordance with approvedpediatric nursing techniques and emergency protocols Prepare andoperate pediatric-specific emergency equipment, assistingphysicians during treatments, procedures, and examinations Ensurethe comfort and safety of pediatric patients in the emergencysetting, employing age-appropriate techniques and minimizingdistress Perform pediatric vital sign assessments, using tools suchas Broselow tape for weight-based measurements, and respondpromptly to deviations from normal Respond promptly to pediatricemergencies, such as respiratory distress, trauma, or cardiacarrest Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, andoutcomes in the medical records Collaborate with multidisciplinaryteams, including physicians, and social workers, to providecomprehensive care Collaborate with families to develop andimplement care plans that address the unique needs of pediatricpatients Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed atenhancing pediatric patient care and outcomes Perform other dutiesas assigned within the scope of practice Adhere to hospital safetyprotocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills:

Critical thinking, service excellenceand good interpersonal communication skills The ability to read,write, & communicate in the English language is required Ability toread/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions,and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities

• Remain in astationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs),pushing, pulling, bending Interpersonal Skills
