$76,396.32 -$126,730.61 The Registered Professional Nurse assesses,coordinates, plans, directs, implements and manages the needs ofassigned patients throughout the episode of care with a focus onprogress toward discharge, including during transitions within theacute care stay. The Registered Professional Nurse is responsiblefor the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by thecaregiving team. S/he assures that competent, compassionate patientcare is uniformly provided to customers including referringfacilities, hospital staff and patients in the inpatient,ambulatory, and community settings.

Hourly Range:

$36.73 – $60.93

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs,performs treatments, procedures and special tests, and documenttreatment as required by company policy and local/state/federalrules and regulations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluatesdiagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ conditions.
• Assesses and evaluates patient needs for, and responses to, carerendered.
• Applies sound nursing judgment in patient caremanagement decisions.
• Provides primary and emergency care foroccupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Administers over-the-counter and prescription medications asordered.
• Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan ofCare for all patients.
• Directs and guides ancillary personnel andmaintain standards of professional nursing. Qualifications
• Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which aDiploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred.
• Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license.
• Obtains andmaintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Previous experience as a PCA orother nursing assistance preferred.
• Ability to improve jobperformance through continuing education.
• Possesses knowledge ofquality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools andtechniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support ofdepartmental and patient care quality improvement.

Unit DescriptionThe Medical Cardiology unit is a 29-bed unit consisting of 1private room, 13 semi-private rooms and one 4 bedroom. Patients arereceived from the Emergency Department, Cardiac CatheterizationLab, CCU, MICU, physician offices, and other facilities wheninpatient admission is necessary. The patient population servedincludes male and female, acute and chronically ill patients with avariety of cardiac and medical diagnoses. Most patients admitted tothe unit require telemetry monitoring after receivingminimally-invasive and invasive cardiac procedures. The age rangeis from young adult (18 years) to geriatric (100) years.
