We areseeking a highly specialized RN with strong clinical reasoningskills to join our Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology procedure-basedclinic in Albany, NY! Under the direction of the practice physicianand/or advanced practice provider, Nurse Manager (RN) and/or NurseSupervisor (RN), the RN may provide direct patient care, patienttriage (in-person and telephonic), assessment, planning, directingand evaluating of a patient’s specific care plan and clinic visit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Obtains andaccurately record patient’s vital signs; reports abnormal values totreating provider
- Documents components of patient’s history(Medical, Surgical and Social) in EHR
- Gathers and enters data forasthma control test and for peak flows of diagnosed asthma
- Provides nursing support to all providers/fellows in the clinicalsetting
- Administers medications and treatments to patients inclinic, under the direction of a physician or APP
- Performs reviewand triage of incoming test results, patient requests and pharmacyrenewals; facilitates call-backs to patients as necessary
- Proficiency of administration (monoclonal agent administrationeducation competency) of specialty medications (Xolair, Nucala,Fasenra, Dupixent)
- Allergy Desensitization Injections(subcutaneous) and Venom Desensitization Injections (subcutaneous)
- Instruction and Administration of specialty specific vaccination(diphtheria/tetanus, pneumococcal) for diagnostic immunologypurposes
- Prepares Allergy Serum Compounding (Mixing) paperworkfor patient specific established allergy injection patients or newpatients
- Assists in the emergency management of anaphylaxis
- Proficient in performing percutaneous and intradermal skin testingin our specialty clinic (environmental, venom, food, specialty drugskin testing)
- Performs oral drug desensitization or foodchallenge desensitization
- Proficient in nitric oxide testing andspirometry in individuals pediatric through adult with asthma orasthma related conditions
- Teaches/Administers nebulizertreatments, self-injectable medications, spacer and inhaler in theclinic
- Coordinates durable medical equipment (nebulizers, O2,etc.) for patients in home setting
- Assists physician and arrangeset up for skin biopsy procedure and rhinoscopy procedure
- Provides material for eczema wraps and bleach baths in the clinic
- Proficient in performing Patch Dermal Skin Testing in the clinic
- RN to Coordinate bed access/team approach (ICU or floor admittingMD/Pharmacy/Nurse Manager/Clinical Nurse Specialist/Consulting MD),prior authorization, protocols for inpatient oral fooddesensitization or specialty drug challenge or desensitization inthe hospital setting under the direction and supervision of theprovider
- Provides education to patients related to their visitand overall health and wellness
- Maintains inventory of supplies,and keeps patient examination rooms stocked
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree of a state accredited Registered Nursingprogram is required
- NYS current RN licensure is required
- Minimum of 1 year of prior clinical nursing experience is requiredRegistered Nurse (RN)
