The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. This role requires a strong understanding of maternal-fetal health, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and newborns throughout the labor process. Administer medications and manage pain relief options for patients. Assist in the delivery process, including performing spinal taps when necessary. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify any potential complications or risks. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care. Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record systems such as Epic. Ensure compliance with all hospital protocols and safety standards during labor and delivery procedures. Requirements Current nursing license in good standing. Experience in labor and delivery nursing preferred; familiarity with trauma medicine is a plus. Proficient in basic life support (BLS) techniques; advanced certifications are advantageous. Knowledge of ICD-10 coding for documentation purposes is preferred. Experience in an ICU or nursing home setting is beneficial but not mandatory. Strong patient assessment skills with the ability to recognize changes in patient conditions promptly. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
