JOB SUMMARY
The NursingProfessional Development (NPD) Practitioner is a Register Nursewith NPD practice judgement and expertise who influenceprofessional role competence and growth of learners. The NPDpractitioner is responsible for supporting learners within thecontext and framework of the Nursing Professional Development,Scope and Standards practice as approved by the American NursesAssociation. This position works in collaboration with nursingleadership to foster and influence competency management, clinicalnursing education, professional role development, policystandardization, collaborative partnerships, scientific inquiry,transition to practice and onboarding/orientation of new HartfordHealthCare colleagues. The practitioner is an essential member ofthe nursing leadership team who promotes the alignment of regionalNPD and practice excellence with the HHC system as a whole.
Qualifications BSN required; enrollment in a Master’s program withdegree completion within two years of hire date preferred. Minimumof 3 years of active clinical nursing experience with at least 1year of med-surg experience in an acute care environment.
Experience as a preceptor. One year of relevant teaching experiencepreferred, nursing professional development and/or specialty areapreferred. Licensure, Certification, Registration
- LicensedRegistered Nurse from the CT DPH obtained prior to hire date.
- NPDor Clinical Specialty Certification within two years of hirehire/transfer
- BLS required Knowledge, Skills and AbilityRequirements
- Demonstrates ability to develop, deliver andevaluate educational programs.
- Working knowledge of highreliability and LEAN process improvement strategies.
- Demonstratedleadership skills and a commitment to education as a methodologyfor promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery ofpatient care and services.
- Knowledge of the principles/theoriesof adult learning.
- Knowledge of unit based orientation plans.
- Strong skills in the process of educational needs assessments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of acollaborative team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint andstrong skills in excel We take great care of careers.
