Job Summary:

Provides direct nursing care inaccordance with established policies, procedures and protocols ofthe healthcare organization.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Implements and monitors patient careplans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition asappropriate. Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines forwell-coordinated patient care. Notes and carries out physician andnursing orders. Assesses and coordinates patient’s dischargeplanning needs with members of the healthcare team. May round withphysician in an inpatient setting. Applies the existing body ofevidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care tonursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based onpatient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in thedepartment’s Scope of Service. As an SSM Health nurse, I willdemonstrate the professional nursing standards defined in theprofessional practice model. Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursesto guide his/her response to the current and evolving health andnursing needs of our patients and our patient populations. Works ina constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs otherduties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Graduate of accredited school ofnursing or education equivalency for licensing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constant use of speech toshare information through oral communication. Constant standing andwalking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objectsweighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/dataentry. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distancesnear (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identifyand distinguish colors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognizeodors. Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication,distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioningmachinery, etc. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pullingobjects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients.

Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting,gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasionaldriving. Rare crawling and running.
