Job Description

Camp Nurse or EMT (K-8 grade) Town of North Castle Armonk, NY 10504 The Town of North Castle is looking to hire a camp EMT or Nurse. We are looking for someone who has experience working with young children, currently work in a school system or has worked in a camp setting before. Camp Chippewa is a Town Camp in Armonk, NY which is about 10 minutes north of White Plains. Camp runs Monday-Friday from June 30

  • August 8 with no camp on the 4th of July.
Position Purpose:

The camp Nurse will evaluate and treat campers and staff for minor injuries and illnesses supervise and ensure implementation medication policies and procedures at camp, keep a log of Health Center visits, give supportive advice to counselors and other camp staff if requested, and identify health problems serious enough to require a physician’s attention.

Essential Job Functions :

Caring for the medical needs of campers and staff at Camp Oversee the health and wellness of campers and staff. Conduct initial health screening of all campers and staff Provide medical attention to campers and staff with general health concerns and document in Health Log. Distribute and record camper medications. Maintain Health Center record and medical forms. Communicate specific camper health needs (allergies, special diets) to staff. Communicate with Camp Directors about camper health issues.

Other Job Duties :

Check in and file the incoming health forms, record the individual problems, and note medications. Stocking First Aid supplies in the Health Center and all areas of camp and controlling their outflow. Safeguarding the camper’s prescription medications; administering the medications at the prescribed dosages and hours. Participate in camp activities and events. Communicate and cooperate with all staff. Express any concerns in a professional manner at an appropriate time. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.

Qualifications :

(Minimum Education and Experience) Candidate must be a certified EMT or licensed RN/LPN.

  • Valid CPR/AED (will train if expired)
  • RTE
  • will train if not certified Flexible
  • able to adapt to different environments and schedules.

Confidence in skills. Responsible, hard-working. Good bedside manner, friendly and personable. Strong assessment abilities. Prior experience with children (does not have to be in a medical capacity).
