Shifts/Hours:
Our nurses work 3, 12-hour rotating shifts each weekto ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor. Typical start times are 7amand 7pm. /n Graduate Nurses must be eligible for State BoardLicensure and successfully pass the examination before beginningthis role OR ability to start with TPP and must obtain licensewithin 6 months of beginning position. Applicants will be placed inthe appropriate job title and salary from the My Nursing CareerLadder based on their individual experience and education. /n
- /nZero to two years of experience. /n /n
- /n BSN preferred. /n /n
- /n Completion of UPMC Student Nurse Internship Program or studentclinical transitions course at UPMC preferred. /n /n
- /n Theindividual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skillsnecessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the agesof the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below./n /n
- /n They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principlesof growth and development over the life span and possess theability to assess data reflective of the patients status andinterpret the appropriate information needed to identify eachpatients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and toprovide the care needs as described in the department policy andprocedures. /n /n
- /n Ability to establish and maintain positive,caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians,non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, otherdepartments, and patients/families. /n /n
- /n Ability to workproductively and effectively within a complex environment, handlemultiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. /n /n
- /nGood clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical andproblem solving abilities required as related to various aspects ofpatient care. /n /n
- /n Critical thinking skills necessary toexercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process./n /n

Licensure, Certifications, andClearances:
/n /n
- /n Current Pennsylvania licensure as aRegistered Professional Nurse /n /n
- /n CPR required based on AHAstandards that include both a didactic and skills demonstrationcomponent within 30 days of hire /n /n
- /n Must complete licensureexamination within
SIX MONTHS
of hire or within one year ofgraduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits arevalid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year fromissue of permit (or until the results of the examination are knownat which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNstake the licensure examination within 6 months of their start dateor they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at thediscretion of the BU. /n /n
