The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, exceptional IV insertion skills, and experience working with elderly populations. This role is crucial in supporting the health, comfort, and well-being of our residents, particularly those at risk for dehydration or recovering from illness. This position will cover 9 locations in the Pittsburgh Area.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess residents for signs of dehydration and need for IV hydration therapy. Insert and manage peripheral IV lines for hydration and prescribed medications. Administer IV fluids and monitor residents throughout therapy. Communicate with the medical team regarding changes in resident condition or response to treatment. Document all treatments, observations, and resident responses accurately in the medical record. Maintain aseptic technique and follow infection control protocols. Educate residents (as appropriate) and staff on IV therapy protocols. Collaborate with nursing and care teams to ensure holistic, person-centered care. Ensure compliance with all facility, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
Active RN license in PA. Current BLS/CPR certification. 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or geriatrics. Proven proficiency in IV insertion, management, and hydration therapy. Knowledge of fluid balance, chronic disease management, and elderly care. Ability to work independently and prioritize care effectively. Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting. Familiarity with PCC and nursing documentation requirements
