Pediatric School Nurse:
Evening Shift 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 201 North Bellefield Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 Western PA School for Blind Children, located in Oakland, provides a one-of-a-kind educational experience that empowers students to realize their full potential. Founded in 1887, we have about 200 students in our school all ages between 3-22. Within that range we have three groups based off age range (primary, middle, and secondary). Here at the WPSBC we strive to bring the betterment of each students growth and quality of life. Look no further than the WPSBC for a fulfilling career! This position is responsible for providing school based professional nursing care, medications, treatments, and other care to students. Some of our students remain on campus for the duration of the school year and these individuals would be your main area of focus! Our next school year will be beginning in mid-late August. There could potentially be an opportunity to begin sooner during our Extended School year as well. Schedule Sundays-Thursdays 3:00PM-11:00PM for the evening shift. Qualifications Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure required. Diploma from a school of nursing is required. Associates’ degree or Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred. Pennsylvania School Nurse Certification highly desirable. Experience with children with multiple disabilities, including visual impairments is preferred. If experience exceeds out expectations the salary can be negotiable. Responsibilities To provide school based professional nursing care-medications, treatments, and other care- to students consistent with students’ medical orders, school-based policies and procedures, and current standards of nursing care. To integrate working knowledge of students’ health and family histories into nursing care activities. To train, support, and communicate with school staff regarding student health issues through modeling, informal and formal staff instruction. To communicate with families and team members regarding student health issues, as warranted, and refer persistent, significant, or complex student health issues to other school team members including Certified School Nurse or Director of Health Services, or to students’ health care providers, as warranted. To document nursing care activities consistent with school policies and procedures.
