The Labor & Delivery Department at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is an extraordinarily high-volume maternity unit dedicated to caring for patients experiencing normal/natural childbirth, as well as complicated high-risk deliveries, patients with substance abuse, and pregnancy loss. The Labor & Delivery Department encompasses an OB emergency department, labor suite, OR, PACU, and ICU. You will work with many different OB disciplines and providers with various approaches to childbirth—including Resident physicians, family practice physicians, OB attending physicians, and midwives. Previous postpartum or labor & delivery experience is strongly preferred, however, candidates with Med Surg (Acute Care), ED, and/or ICU experience will be considered. What can you Expect as a Professional Staff Nurse? The Professional Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning. A role that requires independent judgment, fluent communication, and candid partnership, the Professional Staff Nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and patients’ families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. As a Professional Staff Nurse and a member of the care delivery team, you will set the standards for the level and quality of nursing care and possess authority and accountability for its provision. At all times, you will exemplify a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.

Shifts/Hours:

 Our RNs work a rotating 12-hour schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor. •Hours and travel are subject to change based on business needs

Qualifications:

2 years of nursing experience required
Previous Labor and Delivery or OB experience preferred
One of the following:
Completion of annual project that is evidence-based and approved by CNO
UPMC approved nursing certification required and must be maintained. Certification not required if MSN or DNP is held. No degree preference- ASN, BSN, MSN all welcome

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Registered Nurse (RN)
Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
