RNs:

/n /n

  • For working night shift, you may receive an additional $2/hour ontop of the off-shift differential ($2) for actual hours workedwithin the night program guidelines. /n
  • Must have completedorientation period and have at least 6 months of registered nurseexperience to participate. /n
  • GNs will have the option to moveinto the night program once these qualifications are met. /n /n /nMinimum starting pay rates: /n /n
  • $31.50 (BSN) /n
  • $30.00(non-BSN) /n
  • Shift differential: $2.00 ( an additional $2.00 ifqualified for the night program) /n
  • Title and salary will bedetermined based upon education and nursing experience. /n /n /nGenerous Sign-On Bonus for experienced nurses: /n /n
  • $15,000sign-on bonus available for nurses with 1 or more years ofexperience. /n
  • $10,000 sign-on bonus available for nurses withless than 1 year of experience. /n
  • Candidates hired into asign-on bonus eligible role will be asked to make a two-year workcommitment. /n /n /n UPMC’s Monthly Loan Repayment program: /n /n
  • Graduate Nurses are eligible to receive a $15,000 student loanrepayment bonus, which is paid out across 3 years.

Purpose& Responsibilities:

/n Patient Care /n /n•

Provide Direct Care:

Use nursing protocols and standards to perform and documentprocedures safely and accurately. Administer medications and IVtherapy following policy. /n

  • Assess and Reassess:

    Evaluate anddocument patient and family needs. Reassess patients every eighthours or as needed. /n

  • Plan Care:

    Involve patients and familiesin creating care plans. Prioritize needs, conduct care conferences,and maintain up-to-date care plans. Coordinate with communityagencies and other professionals. /n /n Coordination andCommunication /n /n

  • Engage in
Team Discussions:

Work with medicalstaff and other professionals to discuss and develop patient careplans. /n

  • Utilize Systems:

    Use Bed Management System, Alpha,CPOE, and other relevant computer systems efficiently. /n /nEducation and Leadership /n /n

  • Teach and Educate:

    Initiate healthteaching for patients and families based on their needs. Contributeto the education of staff and students. /n

Consult and Lead:

Offer guidance and support to other healthcare team members.

Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions. /n /n Safety andCompliance /n /n

  • Follow Precautions:

    Adhere to universalprecautions and occupational exposure policies. Identify andaddress potential problems and environmental factors affectingpatient care. /n

Maintain Competency:

Complete annual competencyvalidation and stay proficient in point-of-care testing as per labcriteria. /n

Education andFormal Training Required:

  • Must hold a current license topractice nursing in the State of Pennsylvania
  • /n•Mustsatisfactorily complete the Nursing Department’s orientationprogram and probationary period.

Licensure, Certifications,and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards thatinclude both a didactic and skills demonstration component within30 days of hire /n
  • Must obtain one of the eight certificationswithin two years of hire/transfer:/n /n
  • Acute/Critical Care RN(CCRN) OR Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses OR Certified EmergencyNurse (CEN) OR Certified Flight Nurse OR Certified NeuroscienceRegistered Nurse OR Certified Progressive Care Nurse OR EmergencyNursing Pediatric OR Trauma Certified Registered Nurse /n /n /n
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) /n
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /n
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIH)/n
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) /n
  • Registered Nurse(RN) /n
  • Act 33 with renewal /n
  • Act 34 with renewal /n
  • Act 73FBI Clearance with renewal /n /n
  • Current licensure either in thestate where the facility is located or, if the facility is in astate covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC)agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLCstate.
