PURPOSE:

The Coordinating Nurse (CN) will be responsible for the delivery of high professional standards, best practice standards and effective medical assistance services for all clients of International SOS. The CN provides nursing support to the 24-hour Assistance Centre (AC) combined with coordinating medical evacuations working collaboratively with the operations, security and other medical team members throughout the world.

Schedule:

No Night Shifts. OT optional but not required. 3 days x 13-hour shift (consecutive) or 4 days 10-hour shift (consecutive) Traveling opportunities (missions) available but not required. This is a non-bedside role in an office setting.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Medical Assistance Services:

Provide professional telephonic nursing consultations and referrals to patients. Monitor the appropriateness of medical treatment and care provided. Understand and manage different case types confidently. Obtain medical reports from treating doctors to coordinate patient needs. Monitor medical aspects of evacuations and repatriations, including assessing the necessity and means of evacuation. Complete medical documentation accurately and timely. Assess cases based on medical elements, acuity, and geographical location to facilitate appropriate medical assistance. Maintain open communication with medical and operational team members. Document patient case notes and details in the electronic case management system. Update medical actions on cases and ensure proper handover to the next shift. Understand clients’ contractual agreements and assist non-medical staff with relevant referrals. Adhere to International SOS internal policies and procedures. Achieve objectives/KPIs as outlined by the direct manager. Oversee planning and progress of operational issues related to medical case management. Medical Assistance Services (HIPAA Context): Receive and assess medically related calls. Collect logistical, medical, and collateral histories related to medical events/incidents. Provide medical advice within the Clinical Nurse’s scope of practice. Organize and supervise appropriate medical assistance for clients, including obtaining medical reports, organizing referrals, and recommending medical transportation. Conduct site surveys to add to the network of medical providers. Contribute to the development and enhancement of medical and logistic capabilities. Medical Liaison and Reporting (HIPAA Context): Collect medical information to produce professional medical reports. Communicate patient progress to relevant parties/clients. Discuss appropriate medical management and recommendations. Manage medical information released from the Assistance Center. Liaise with medical and claim departments to communicate relevant information. Undertake public relations calls to ensure good communication with stakeholders. Promote the work of International SOS. Maintain high standards of documentation and update case files consistently.

Medical Transportation:

Consideration for medically escorted missions after meeting key aspects of medical case management. Complete annual training and meet medical transportation standards

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills and Knowledge:

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, typing, computer and communication skills Good global geographical knowledge preferred

Required Competencies:

BLS certification (current)•Required ACLS certification (current)•Required PALS (current)•

Preferred Required Work Experience :

Three years of recent inpatient clinical experience

Required Qualifications:

United States Registered Nurse Licensure (current)

Required Languages:

English Spanish preferred but not required for this role Travel /
