UPMC’s Lakeshore Family Health practice in Erie, PA is looking for a dedicated Full-Time Outpatient Professional Staff Nurse to join our care delivery team. This role offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no weekends or holidays required , allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance while delivering exceptional patient care. As a Professional Staff Nurse, you will be a vital member of the team, responsible for setting the standard of nursing care. You’ll provide expert care to a group of patients and their families, using your independent judgment, strong communication skills, and collaborative approach to achieve the best possible outcomes. Experience with EPIC is highly desirable to help you seamlessly manage patient information in our high-volume practice. In this role, you’ll build strong, collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families—ensuring coordinated care across the continuum. Responsibilities:

Participate in quality improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities, sharing insights with colleagues, and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient care and satisfaction. Establish and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with executives, physicians, healthcare teams, patients, and families to support high-quality care. Demonstrate strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and clinical judgment skills to navigate complex patient care situations. Adapt to a dynamic environment by managing multiple priorities, utilizing specialized equipment, and maintaining the physical stamina required for patient care. Educate patients, families, students, and new staff by applying adult learning principles and providing clear, detailed guidance throughout the care process. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth through open dialogue, feedback, and mentorship. Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, considering their holistic needs and personal goals. Triage patient situations, coordinate care with physicians, and assist with assessments, evaluations, and education. Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation to enhance communication and improve patient safety and quality of care. Required:

The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.

Preferred:

Minimum six months experience preferred. BSN preferred. Knowledge and/or experience using EPIC.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

UPMC approved national certification preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within

SIX MONTHS

of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 6 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU. Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
