STANDARDS OF PRACTICERN

Assessment:

The registerednurse collects pertinent data and information relative to thehealthcare consumer’s health or situation

The RN develops and modifies aplan of care that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attainexpected outcomes.

The RNemploys strategies to promote health and a safe environment.

EDUCATION

Graduation from anaccredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. All newly hiredregistered nurses must have current BCLS certification or mustobtain within one month of hire.

EXPERIENCE

Registered Nurse is thefoundational job description for all RNs. All RNs are encouraged toadvance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program. LICENSURELicensed and a currently registered nurse in the State ofConnecticut. Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Registered Nurse is the foundational job descriptionfor all RNs. All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIREclinical advancement program.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Requires prolongedstanding; walking; use of sight, hearing, and touch. May be exposedto infectious diseases. Will be exposed to physical, mental andemotional illness as well as end of life conditions and death.

Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care.

Standing/walking for more than half of the day. Frequently bending,reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting and lifting. Must be able toassist pushing/pulling/lifting patients ranging from five (5) tothree hundred (300) pounds. Additional Information Nights-7p-7:30a.
