Job Summary:
Coordinates accurate clinical records to ensure high quality care to the residents.
Essential Functions:
Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as confidential information. Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices. Reviews and evaluates residents’ medical records. Looks for opportunity for improvement to resident care. Coordinates, monitors, updates, and is responsible for accuracy and timeliness of the computerized MDS/MMDS and care plans of all residents. Coordinates the completion of all documents and procedures for Medicaid residents to ensure proper reimbursement. Develops competence and expertise in Homewood’s computerized MDS care planning and charting system. Provides back-up as House Supervisor. Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Current and valid RN license in the state providing resident care. Has compassion, understanding and empathy for older persons. Possesses management ability including skills in written and verbal communication, good judgment and reasoning and coaching. Understands management, delegation and motivational concepts. Ability to communicate to residents at a level they can understand. Ability to work pro-actively at quality assurance issues rather than reactive. Detailed and results-focused with consistency. Must have analytical ability in identifying and solving problems.
Physical Requirements:
This position would include responsibilities of leadership in nursing. Standing and walking distances constantly throughout the campus would be required during the shift in evaluating residents and supporting line staff and respond to emergency needs of the Retirement Community. Ability to lift 30 pounds in assisting co-workers with resident lifts, transfers, etc. several times throughout the shift. Must be able to react quickly and decisively in emergencies and in unexpected behavior of residents.
