Whenhospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and newtreatment options their patients require, they turn to us. This isa posting for Bliss 10i, a twelve-bed unit within HartfordHealthCare’s Heart and Vascular Institute, the Cardiac IntensiveCare Unit’s population primarily consists of patients withmyocardial infarctions, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure,and post-cardiac arrest. Registered Nurses (RNs) are trained in theuse of specialized equipment to monitor and treat these patientpopulations.

Some of these are:

transvenous pacemakers,intra-aortic balloon pumps, temporary ventricular assist devices,pulmonary artery catheters, and targeted temperature management.

The unit works closely with the Cardiac Catherization lab,Electrophysiology department, and the Cardiovascular Surgical Team.

Job Summary:

Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective nursingcare for patients/families and/or others for a patient populationwithin a unit, service or other primary area of practice with anawareness of the episode of care. Applies the nursing processwithin the context of the organization’s Framework for ProfessionalPractice. Functions as clinically competent. Delegates andsupervises work appropriately. Reports to Unit Manager.

Qualifications Current Connecticut RN License. Graduate of anaccredited nursing school (BSN Required or MSN preferred) BLScertification by the American Heart Association required prior todate of hire.
