This is an exciting opportunity for Nurses thatare: Seeking flexible schedule or work/life balance Interested intemporary work but not interested in traveling Want workflexibility; the ability to find the schedule that works for youLooking for opportunities to work on different types of units andhospitals within our system or a foot in the door to a long-termcareer General summary/ overview statement: The clinical nurse is alicensed registered nurse who is responsible for assuringcompetent, compassionate, individualized, nursing care for specificpatients and families, including delegation to and supervision ofnon-professional clinical and support staff. The clinical nurse isresponsible and accountable for the overall nursing care managementof a designated group of patients. They collaborate with theNursing Director and members of the Patient Care Team to achieveefficient patient outcomes. They also collaborate with the patienttoward meeting the needs and expectations of the patient andfamily. Clinical nurses ensure that care is safe, efficient,effective, timely and meets the cultural, spiritual, and ethnicneeds of each patient and family.

Principal duties andresponsibilities:

1. Provides competent, compassionate patient

  • andfamily-centered nursing care based on scientific principles and theuse of the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork.

a)Provides and maintains a therapeutic environment for patients andfamilies b) Articulates the professional nursing role to thepatient, family, and health team members. c) Identifies, plans, andimplements nursing interventions. Facilitates, and evaluatesoutcomes of nursing care for an individual patient or group ofpatients d) Coordinates involvement of the patient, family, andhealth team members in patient care, including patient/familyeducation, teaching, and discharge planning. e) Documents relevantpatient data / information. f) Communicates the plan of care andother pertinent information to/from other health care team members.

Promotes continuity of care through effective hand-offs. g) Helpsdefine standards of excellence for patient care; participates inimprovement of patient care services in a cost-effective way. h)Performs specific functions as described in the unit Scope ofService. i) Provides care appropriate to age group of patients onassigned unit(s) as described in relevant unit Scope of Service. j)Participates in, and contributes to, performance improvementactivities. k) Integrates the six aims of performance improvementinto care delivery: (a) Safety — no needless death, injury, pain orsuffering for patients or staff. (b) Effectiveness — care andservice will be based on best evidence, informed by patient valuesand preferences. (c) Patient Centeredness — all care and servicewill honor the individual patients — their values, choices,culture, social context and specific needs. (d) Timeliness — wasteno one’s time; no unnecessary waiting. (e) Efficiency — remove allunnecessary processes or steps in a process; streamline allactivities. (f) Equity — all care and service will be fair andequitable — the system will treat all patients equally. l) Exhibitscompliance with regulatory and quality and safety requirements. 2)Collaborates with other professionals and directs support staff andnonprofessional nursing personnel in maintaining recognizedstandards a) Teaches and advises all nonprofessional nursingpersonnel for whom they is responsible. b) Participates inorientation of new permanent and temporary staff members. c)Appropriately uses nursing resources. d) Interprets hospital anddepartmental policies and procedures to nurses and other healthteam members 3) Participates in daily operational activitiesnecessary for safe patient/staff environment. a) Utilizes resourcesefficiently to facilitate optimal patient care. b) Provides inputto the Nursing Director/nurse leader regarding unit needs. c)Participates in unit and departmental committees for formulation ofnursing and hospital policies and procedures. d)

ProfessionalDevelopment:

i) Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skillsbased on current nursing education practices. ii) Adheres toDepartment of Nursing requirements for required training. iii)Identifies specific learning needs and goals and develops a plan tomeet them. iv) Contributes to relevant committees, professionalmeetings, continuing educational and/or formal academic programs.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or

REGISTRATIONS

(if applicable):

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth ofMassachusetts. Specialty certification preferred.

Education:

Minimum 2 years of RN experience

Graduation from anaccredited nursing program.
