https://www.aikenregional.com ECT RN will be responsible forassessing, planning, implementing and coordinating day-to-dayoperations of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Services. The ECTCoordinator provides professional leadership in collaboration withECT Psychiatrist, Anesthesia, OPS, PACU, Aurora Pavilion, and otherhealthcare facilities affiliated with treatment plan for patients.
Will be responsible for non-clinical services for patients andproviders; such as, billing, audits, transportation coordinator,pre-authorization, scheduling, registration, referrals, etc Serveas a point of contact for the patients and families regarding care.
Duties:
1. Participates in the development of goals for the ECTProgram that are consistent with goals and objectives of thefacility. 2. Facilitates the development, implementation andevaluation of policies, procedures, standard practices andprotocols related to ECT. 3. Coordinates, develops and maintains aconcurrent system of performance improvement for the ECT serviceline and subsequent educational activities for monitoring standardsof medical and nursing practice and care. 4. In consultation withstaff development, develops, coordinates and implements and reviseseducational programs for the nursing staff as needed. 5. Addressany patient dissatisfaction and notify Director when necessary. 6.Performs body systems assessment accurately and promptly, includingassessment of pain to ensure that patient is safe to receive ECTtreatment. Continues to ensure the patient safety in all aspects ofthe treatment process. 7. Effectively communicates with allproviders to coordinate ECT treatments in the PACU. 8. Performstime out with team prior to ECT delivery. 9. Providespatient/family with education regarding ECT procedure and treatmentregimen. 10. Facilitates patient flow and provides direct careduring all ECT treatments. 11. Maintains equipment and suppliesnecessary for ECT treatment. 12. Schedules all treatments,appointments with departments and consultants to includeAnesthesia, OPS, PACU, Aurora, psychiatrists, and other providersand their affiliated healthcare locations as needed 13. Coordinatesbenefits with Utilization Review Department. Pre-certifiesoutpatients with UR and insurance providers. 14. Demonstratesappropriate clinical skills for psychiatric population. 15.Demonstrates PACU skills in using monitoring equipment such as EEGmonitors and ETCO2 peripheral nerve stimulator. 16. Performsmonthly PI activities to ensure best practices with ECT delivery.17. Exhibits sound time management skills to prioritize care forpatients. Manages time effectively to minimize overtime andunnecessary time required of anesthesia and PACU nursing staff. 18.Will perform other non-clinical duties such as, but not limited to,registration, authorization, scheduling, create care plans,coordinating transportation, assessments, audits, maintain careplans and charts, etc. 19. Serve as a main point of contact forpatients, families, Aurora’s UR/Assessment Team, and providers. 20.Collaborate with Aurora’s UR Team regarding inpatient andoutpatients’ current authorization for reviews, progress, deficits,placement, etc. 21. Responsible for ensuring PHQ-9’s are completedprior to and at each treatment, performing MoCA assessments to bedone several times throughout treatment, and responsible for ECTbay and ordering of all supplies needed 22. Qualifications Requirements:
Education:
Graduate of anaccredited or NLN approved RN program.
Experience:
Three years ofexperience in psychiatric nursing or one year of PACU experience.
License or Registration Requirements:
BLS and ACLS required (orobtained during orientation). PALS (or obtained within six monthsof employment). Current SC nursing license. Successful completionof Handle With Care training within 30 days of hire.
