RequiredQualifications:

• One years’ recent experience as a Labor andDelivery RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• NRP (Neonatal ResuscitationProgram)

Certification Preferred Qualifications:

• AWHONN FetalMonitoring Certification
• STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA /ARC)
• Other certifications and licenses may be required for thisposition

Summary:

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse providescomprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting. This roleencompasses assessing maternal and fetal health, administeringtreatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensurehigh-quality, patient-centered care during labor, delivery, and theimmediate postpartum period. The position requires strong clinicalskills in obstetrics, critical thinking abilities, excellentcommunication, and a commitment to maintaining the higheststandards of patient safety and professional ethics.

Essential WorkFunctions:

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patientsand families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance withapproved obstetric nursing techniques
• Prepare equipment and aidphysician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients
• Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment andstabilization of mother and newborn
• Educate patients and familieson postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists,and other team members to deliver cohesive care
• Respond toobstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetaldistress, using evidence-based protocols
• Document patient care,assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternaland neonatal outcomes
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpretresults
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetricprocedures
• Comply with all regulatory standards, includinghospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetricnursing care
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope oflabor and delivery nursing

• The ability to read, write, & communicate in the Englishlanguage is required
• Ability to read/comprehend writteninstructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PCskills
