Clinic Prep Nurse, RN Key Responsibilities:

Essential Functions Reporting to the Office Manager and managed by clinic physicians, the Clinic Prep Nurse prepares patients’ charts in advance of their clinic visit to provide provider with pertinent information such as current lab results, immunization/injection status, and recent medical history. In coordination with provider, the Clinic Prep Nurse is expected to carry out duties proactively to maintain a predictable and reliable cadence for clinic workflows to optimize provider efficiency and patient experience. Demonstrates, through behavior, Center for Primary Care’s Mission Statement. Takes responsibility for providing exceptional customer service. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines. Follows CPC guidelines, infection prevention practices, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand washing according to policy, and follows safety and workplace incident procedures. Review past visit notes and information added to patient medical records between office visits, including lab and test results. Identify and note discrepancies or incomplete medical information, take action as needed. Order pre-visit labs, verify completion and visibility in the patient’s medical record. Assess gaps in care by reviewing immunization and screening status, make necessary notations. Prepare office encounter notes with relevant information such as: History of Present Illness, Review of Systems, Physical Exam, and Assessment and Plan. Review reference documents and note information and data provided by our care delivery partners. Clearly document patient information. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Success:
Education and Experience Requirements Education:

High School graduate or GED, and Associates degree in Nursing (ASN) required. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Basic Life Support and RN License in the state required.

Experience:

Minimum of 10+ years of experience in both hospital and clinic settings with a working familiarity with the major specialties such as Cardiology, Vascular, Orthopedics, GI etc. In-depth understanding of Primary Care setting workflows. Read, write, and understand medical terminology. Substantial experience interpreting and documenting medical information such as patient history, medical exams, assessments, diagnostic results, procedures, treatments, and medication. Knowledge of electronic medical record system and Microsoft Office suite. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Excellent communication skills to effectively and compassionately communicate with patients, families and co-workers. Critical thinking skills to compare and contrast data and information. Function independently in a hybrid work environment. Effectively manage work schedule and complete tasks in a timely manner. Ability to adapt and adopt to care delivery improvements. Use good judgement in decision making. Advance knowledge of electronic medical record systems, specifically Athena1 preferred. Relevant primary care / family practice experience.
