Education Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Experience:

One (1) year of professional nursing experience in an acute caresetting is preferred. Home health experience is desired. RNs mustbe currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of SouthCarolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as aRegistered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not apermanent resident of SC. Must have a valid South Carolina driver’slicense, with a good driving record. Must have a current AmericanHeart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card. Primary SourceVerification (if applicable): Nursing

• SC Labor, Licensing andRegulation (LLR): or compact RN state licensing board.

DescriptionJob Summary:

The Registered Nurse’s primary function is to plan,provide, supervise and coordinate care to patients with an array ofinjuries, diseases and compromised health states. The RegisteredNurse provides comprehensive skilled nursing services to qualifiedpatients in their homes so that the stated goals and objectives ofthe agency can be achieved. The nurse works with minimum dailysupervision or support while performing interdependent practice inthe field.

Skills Knowledge/Skills:

Demonstrates comprehensivephysical assessment skills. Demonstrates ability to implement thenursing process and principles of teaching and learning.

Demonstrates good organizational and time management techniques.

Specialty Areas:

Demonstrates competency and skills appropriate tothe specialty area, i.e., IV Therapy, Pediatrics, etc. Competencyand verification of skills may be required when applying forspecialty practice.

Contacts:

Patient/family contacts in the homeand various community settings. Contacts with other health careprofessionals, community agencies, and agency personnel.

WorkDemands/Environment:

Frequent standing. Frequent walking. Frequentlifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carryingup to 50 lbs. Intermittent pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.

Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Frequent reaching withhands/arms. Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.

Frequent driving. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure toinfectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditionscommon to a healthcare environment. Requires work under stressfulconditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to takecall and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of thedepartment. Ability to read and comprehend. Possible exposure tounclean environments, toxic substances, pharmaceuticalpreparations, hazardous and unsafe driving conditions, and otherconditions common to delivery of health care in the community.
