Travel The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med-Surg unit is responsible forproviding direct patient care in a fast-paced environment,assisting with the recovery of patients who require medical andsurgical interventions. The RN will work collaboratively with thehealthcare team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care topatients across a variety of diagnoses and procedures, ensuringpatient safety, comfort, and well-being during their hospitalstay.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, emotional,and psychological needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based onpatient assessment and physician orders.
Patient Care:
Administer medications, treatments, and interventions asprescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to medicalprotocols. Monitor patient vital signs, lab results, and clinical progress,making necessary adjustments to care plans. Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility,hygiene, and nutrition. - and post-operative care and educate patients onprocedures, medication, and recovery plans.
Collaboration:
Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and otherhealthcare providers to coordinate care and ensure positive patientoutcomes. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcareteam regarding the plan of care and any changes in condition.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and their families about their conditions,treatment options, and discharge plans. Provide instructions on medication management, lifestyle changes,and follow-up care.
Documentation:
Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, progress,and outcomes in the medical record. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, standards, and regulatoryrequirements.
Safety & Infection Control:
Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to preventhospital-acquired infections and ensure a safe environment. Respond quickly to changes in patient conditions, such asemergencies or complications. Supervision & Mentorship (if applicable): Assist in mentoring new staff or nursing students and provideguidance as needed. Serve as a resource for junior nursing staff in clinicaldecision-making.
