03187 RN Rehab STRHS-Lawrenceburg Job DescriptionCopy Copy Report to the Director, the staff RN is a professionalcare giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for agroup of patients for a designated time frame and provides care tothose patient via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, theenvironment/instrumentation, and other healthcare team members. Ifassigned as charge nurse, will serve as resource for coordinationof activities on the unit. Responsibilities as charge include, butnot limited to, assessment of unit needs, available resources forcurrent and oncoming shift(s) based on patient acuity, volume,individuals and family needs and special clinical procedures orinterventions pending.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process
  • Plans and implements patient care and teaching based on the totalassessment and the age of the patient.
  • Develop plan of care thatis individualized for the patient needs reflecting collaborationwith other members of the healthcare team, the patient, and thefamily as appropriate.
  • Evaluates and documents the patientresponse; monitors and recognizes changes in physiological andpsychosocial status; taking appropriate action based on theassessment of the patient.
  • Participates and cooperates in theunit-based Quality Improvement process.
  • Supports, maintains, andprovides an environment which is supportive of quality patient carebased on best practice using a holistic approach to care, and byadhering to effectively using resources and personnel.
  • Practices,develops, and endorses customer service skills in relationshipswith internal and external customers.
  • Serves as patient andfamily advocate with respect to the patient’s right to privacy,autonomy, and dignity by protecting confidentiality of information.
  • Formulate individualized teaching and educational plan based onidentified learning need and evaluate the effectiveness of learningincluding the patient and family as appropriate.
  • Enhanceprofessional growth and development through participation ineducational programs, current literature, in-service meeting,workshops and shows responsibility for own professional practiceand ongoing education.
Qualifications:

Job Requirements ? MinimumEducation Must posses a current and active Registered Nurse Licensein the State of Tennessee. Required Skills Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work withminimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressfulenvironment and take appropriate action.

Required SkillsCertifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced CardiovascularLife Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) arerequired. (BLS may be obtained within first week of patient carefollowing orientation) (ACLS & PALS may be obtained within sixmonths of patient care following orientation)

Required SkillsLicenses:

Current and active Registered Nurse License in the Stateof Tennessee.
