Hematology Registered Nurse (Hematology RN)•

Job Summary :

A Hematology Registered Nurse (Hematology RN) specializes in thecare of patients with hematologic conditions, such as blooddisorders, anemia, clotting disorders, and malignancies likeleukemia or lymphoma. The Hematology RN works closely withhematologists and interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensivecare, manage treatments, and support patients throughout theirhematologic conditions and therapies.

Key Responsibilities :

Assess, plan, and provide nursing care to patients with hematologicdisorders, including anemia, clotting disorders, bleedingdisorders, blood cancers (leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma), and otherblood-related conditions. Administer medications, blood products, and other treatments suchas chemotherapy, transfusions, and supportive therapies asprescribed. Monitor patients’ response to treatments, track lab values, andmanage side effects, including fatigue, nausea, pain, and othercomplications. Collaborate with hematologists, oncologists, pharmacists, and otherhealthcare professionals to develop and implement individualizedcare plans. Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatmentoptions, medication adherence, and self-management strategies. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and theirfamilies, helping them cope with chronic or life-threateningconditions. Assist in the coordination of diagnostic tests, blood productadministration, and other laboratory-based procedures. Document patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes, ensuringcompliance with regulatory and hospital policies. Support patient care transitions, including discharge planning,outpatient follow-up, and referrals as needed. Participate in clinical research, education, and qualityimprovement initiatives related to hematologic care.

Qualifications :
Education :

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred;Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.

Licensure :

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

Certification :

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Certified Hematology Nurse (CHN)preferred. Wellspring Nurse Source Job ID #31808881.
