PayInformation $1,758 per week About The Position A Registered Nurse(RN) – Outpatient Clinic provides direct nursing care and supportto patients in an outpatient setting, focusing on preventive care,chronic disease management, and patient education. The RN worksclosely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcareprofessionals to deliver high-quality care to patients who do notrequire overnight hospitalization. This role involves performingassessments, administering treatments, educating patients, managingpatient flow, and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic whilemaintaining a compassionate and professional environment.
KeyResponsibilities :
Patient Assessment and Triage :
Perform initialassessments for patients visiting the clinic, including takingmedical histories, measuring vital signs (e.g., blood pressure,temperature, weight), and assessing current health status. Triagepatients based on the severity of their symptoms, and prioritizecare according to clinical protocols. Document patient informationaccurately in electronic medical records (EMR) and communicatefindings to the healthcare team.
Clinical Procedures and Treatments:
Administer prescribed medications and injections (e.g., vaccines,allergy shots, biologics) as ordered by the physician. Assist withminor medical procedures, such as wound care, dressing changes,venipuncture, and lab specimen collection. Perform routinediagnostic tests and screenings, including blood draws, EKGs, andurinalysis, as required by the clinic’s specialties. Preparepatients for examinations and assist healthcare providers duringprocedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and families about their conditions, treatmentplans, medications, and self-care techniques. Provide informationabout preventive health measures, such as immunizations,screenings, and lifestyle changes (e.g., diet, exercise, smokingcessation). Teach patients how to manage chronic conditions likediabetes, hypertension, asthma, or heart disease through lifestylemodifications and proper medication adherence.
Care Coordination :
Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and otherhealthcare providers to develop and implement personalized careplans for patients. Schedule follow-up appointments, arrangereferrals to specialists, and provide instructions for future care.
Communicate with insurance companies regarding authorizations andreferrals when necessary. Assist in managing patient flow byensuring appointments are scheduled efficiently and that patientsare seen in a timely manner.
Documentation and Reporting :
Maintainaccurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with clinicand regulatory standards, ensuring patient data is confidential andsecure. Document all patient encounters, including assessments,treatments, outcomes, and follow-up instructions in the EMR. Reportany concerns, adverse events, or complications to the healthcareteam immediately, ensuring timely intervention and appropriatecare.
Administrative Support :
Assist with patient intake,registration, and insurance verification as needed. Ensure clinicequipment is maintained, sterilized, and ready for use, and reportany malfunctions or need for repairs. Support clinic staff withclerical duties, such as filing, organizing patient charts, andmanaging supply inventories. Assist with billing processes,ensuring that all relevant codes and documentation are provided foraccurate insurance claims.
Infection Control and Safety :
Adhere toall clinic policies and procedures, including infection controlprotocols, to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients andstaff. Educate patients on infection prevention and hygienepractices, especially when managing wounds or chronic conditions.
Follow proper hand hygiene, sterilization, and PPE guidelines toprevent the spread of infection.
Patient Advocacy :
Act as aliaison between patients and the healthcare team, addressingconcerns and ensuring that patients’ needs are met in a timelymanner. Advocate for patients by helping them understand theirtreatment options and make informed decisions about theirhealthcare.
