Required Qualifications:
One year of recent experience as a PICU RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification
Preferred Qualifications:
ACLS (AHA/ARC) Certification CCRN Certification Other certifications and licenses may be required for thisposition
Summary:
The PICU Registered Nurse provides advancedspecialized care to critically ill infants, children, andadolescents in high acuity settings. This role includescomprehensive patient assessment, implementing complex care plans,administering treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinaryhealthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care in afast-paced, high-acuity environment. The position requires strongpediatric critical care skills, advanced clinical judgment,excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining thehighest standards of patient safety and professional ethics inpediatric intensive care.
Essential Work Functions:
Explain procedures and treatments to pediatric patients andtheir families to ensure understanding, cooperation, and emotionalsupport during critical situations Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordancewith approved pediatric nursing techniques and protocols Prepares and operates advanced medical equipment, includingventilators, central line setups, and hemodynamic monitors, whileassisting physicians during treatments and examinations Continuously observes and evaluates patient conditions, recordssignificant findings, and promptly notifies physicians of criticalchanges or adverse reactions to treatments Monitors and interprets vital signs and other clinical data todetect deviations from normal, initiating rapid interventions whennecessary Responds to life-saving situations based upon pediatric nursingstandards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific tointensive care Initiates a patient education plan according to theindividualized needs of the patient and family, as prescribed by aphysician and/or hospital policy Document all relevant history and physical assessments forassigned patients accurately in medical records Perform other duties as assigned within the scope ofpractice Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection controlguidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills The ability to read, write, & communicate in the Englishlanguage is required Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbalinstructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities
- Remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending Interpersonal Skills
- To work effectively with a variety ofpersonnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment. Mental Requirements
