The Registered Nurse will work nights from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The position offers full-time benefits and opportunity to cover extra shifts and overtime.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team. Provide medical management and assessment of patients. Ensure environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population. Direct the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry-through. Make patient & task assignments to subordinates & monitor their performance of duties. Provide training & education to staff, patients, families, & others. Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, & that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates. Demonstrates leadership in organizing the delivery of patient care in an acute psychiatric setting for patients experiencing a wide range of psychiatric conditions. Executes nursing procedures according to policy, utilizing the nursing process. Interacts with and assists in teaching/educating patients. Functions as a therapeutic member in planning and working with patient groups. Serves as a clinical resource person for staff members in their daily activities. Documents pertinent information accurately, timely and legibly. Functions as a medication nurse. Attends mandatory in-services and/or completes required web-based training. QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Required Experience:

One year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults, adolescents and/or children preferred.

Licensure/Certification:
Current North Carolina State Registered Nurse License Current North Carolina Driver’s License Current CPR Certification CPI Certification Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients. Knowledge of milieu management. Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties. Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects. Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures. Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation

Physical Requirements:

Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform CPI physical, verbal and non-verbal techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
