Nursing Unit Director:

Perform nursing patientcare duties for the assigned unit or department Plan, provide, andevaluate total nursing care in accordance with the establishedpatient care philosophy Facilitate individualized, goal-directednursing care through use of the nursing process and the principlesof primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospitalpolicies and procedures Relate effectively with other shifts forcontinuity of care, maintain satisfactory relations with otherdepartments and nursing units; and participate in all phases ofeducation. Essential Functions Identifies existing and potentialproblems and seek or implement appropriate solutions Performs planof care interventions, including specimen collection and woundcare. May administer medication. Documents patient care givenProvides nursing care through planning, organizing, andfacilitating the nursing function for assigned patients Assistspatients with performing activities of daily living, includingpersonal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation Monitors,documents, and communicates patient’s status and reactions tointerventions with RN, physician, patient, and families Works as anadvocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patientKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Requires critical thinkingskills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimalsupervision Must be able to work in a stressful environment andtake appropriate action Qualifications Education Associates degreein Nursing Required Bachelors degree in Nursing PreferredLicenses/Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS)-Required ACLSwithin 6 months of hire PALS within 6 months of hire Handle withCare Certification within 6 months Valid licensure in the State ofGeorgia as a Registered Nurse (RN) Experience Six (6) months ofexperience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a direct patient caresetting unless entering into the Nurse Residency Program
