Our nurses get to workcollaboratively with physicians and act as the go-between for thephysician and the patient. You will get to travel to differenthospitals and Red Cross sites We cover cover (Mertal Beach toSavannah), Florance, Charlson, Columbia, Greenwood .
We do thefollowing procedures:
plasma exchange, red cell exchangeleukapheresis, stem cell harvests, photopheresis, therapeuticphlebotomies, platelet reductions, and white blood celldepletion.
Key Responsibilities:
You will perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in multiplesettings including critical care, emergency room, and freestandingoutpatient centers. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, andaccess vortex and bard ports. Perform all phases of therapeutic apheresis procedures (plasmaexchange, red cell exchange, platelet, and white cell reduction,photopheresis, and hematopoietic progenitor cell collection), toensure safe and appropriate care of the patient and explain, asneeded, the procedures for patients and their family and otherattending healthcare professionals. Act as a consultant to external health care personnel aboutclinical apheresis. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis, priorto and during procedures, utilizing the nursing process, laboratorytesting results, and other clinically significant procedures. Coordinate closely with physicians and nurses at a variety ofhospitals to arrange therapeutic apheresis treatments andfacilitate coordinated care. Evaluate patient medication for compatibility and safety ofapheresis procedure and determine when to contact thephysician. Assemble, restock, QC, and maintain supplies and equipment in astate of readiness to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workenvironment. The American Red Cross will provide all necessarytraining. No experience is required.
Standard Schedule:
Variable1st shift Monday to Friday- 40 hrs per week – Rotating on calls
Qualifications :
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse and CPRcertification is required . Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and workexperience. Two years’ experience in medical/surgical or critical carenursing, OR-related experience. Previous apheresis or dialysis experience is beneficial but notrequired. Good vein selection and venipuncture skills are essential. Good verbal communication skills and the ability to effectivelydiscuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, andphysicians. Customer service experience, effective verbal communication,and public relations skills are preferred. A current valid driver’s license and a good driving record arerequired. Apply now!
