The RN in the Behavioral Health Unit collaborates with the medicalstaff and other members of the health care team to provide qualitypatient care. Performs all activities in accordance with approvedpolicies and guides. Supervises and delegates appropriate duties toancillary personnel.
Essential Functions:
Completes initial and ongoing assessments. Assessments includephysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities,educational, age appropriate, cultural and discharge planningneeds. Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatment. Discusses assessment parameters and scoring for CIWA. Definestreatment guidelines based on assessment findings/scores forCIWA. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-beingof the patient. Employee supervises others. Assists with orientation and training of others as directed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Associate’s degree in nursing required Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriate action. Certifications &Licensure Basic Life Support (BLS) Handle with care within 4 months of hire Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure ormulti-state (compact) license). Minimum Work Experience 1-3 years, Recent acute care experience within past 3 yearspreferred. Why join our team?
