JOB SUMMARY
An Endoscopy Nurse, also known as a Gastroenterology Nurse, provides specialized care before, during, and after endoscopic procedures. They assist physicians with these procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and documenting all relevant information. Endoscopy Nurses also prepare patients for procedures, monitor vital signs, and manage conscious sedation.
Pre-procedure care:
Assessing patients before treatment. Preparing medications as prescribed. Setting up equipment. Positioning patients.
During the procedure:
Assisting the physician. Monitoring patient vital signs. Administering medications (sedatives). Maintaining a stress-free atmosphere for the patient.
Post-procedure care:
Documenting procedure and patient information. Overseeing patient prep and recovery. Implementing discharge plans. Providing discharge instructions.
Equipment and supplies:
Maintaining and storing medical equipment. Sterilizing and organizing equipment. Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
An ADN or BSN Licensure:
active RN license
Experience:
Prior experience in critical care, surgical settings, or endoscopy units can be highly valued.
Certification:
