Provides direct patient care to patientsusing the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope andstandards of practice. Performs plan of care intervention,including medication administration, specimen collection, clinicaltreatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Documentspatient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patientcondition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, andfamily. Assists patients with performing activities of dailyliving, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinatepatient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs ofpatient and/or family and provides patient/family educationappropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works asan advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of thepatient. Perform other duties as assigned. May be required toperform duties of the CNA, MA, LPN or other nursing staff onoccasion. Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service,projects and committees as assigned. Adheres to and supportspolicies and procedures of the STRHS. Works scheduled shiftsincluding overtime, when necessary. Accepts all call schedule asdirected. Maintains a neat and professional appearance incompliance to the existing dress code. Reports to the Directory ofOB / Nursery.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degreepreferred.
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills,decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action.
Certifications:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS),within 30 days of hire AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support(ACLS) within 6 months of hire NRP within 3 months of hire STABLEwithin 6 months of hire
Licenses:
Current and active RegisteredNurse Licensure for the State of Tennessee or compact license withthe required forms filed with the State of Tennessee within 30days.
