Job Description Provides direct patientcare to patients using the nursing process in accordance withapplicable scope and standards of practice. Performs plan of careintervention, including medication administration, specimencollection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical caretreatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, andcommunicates patient condition as appropriate to care team,physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performingactivities of daily living, including personal hygiene,elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates as neededacross disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patienttransfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial supportneeds. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family andprovides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture,condition, and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physicaland emotional well-being of the patient. Perform other duties asassigned. May be required to perform duties of the CNA, MA or LPNor other nursing staff on occasion. Attends and participates instaff meetings, in-service, projects and committees as assigned.

Adheres to and supports policies and procedures of Highpoint Healthwith Ascension Saint Thomas – Winchester . Works scheduled shiftsincluding overtime, when necessary. Accepts all call schedule asdirected. Maintains a neat and professional appearance incompliance to the existing dress code. While performing this job,occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for allemployees. Reports to the Director of Med Surg.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education Associate’s degree is required. Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriate action. CertificationsAHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 30 days of hire. Licenses Mustbe a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or alicensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the properTennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
