The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Departmentprovides direct and indirect patient care. He/She applies thenursing process to plan and implement the care of patients,including patient and family education and continuum of careplanning. The Registered Nurse must possess good communicationskills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians,peers, patients and families. He/She works collaboratively with allmembers of the healthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered.

Will oversee LPN practices as directed by unit director. Essential Functions Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs ofthe patient. Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcareprofessionals to provide care to the patients. Establishing, reviewing, revising and following the patient plan ofcare Administering medications and treatments within the scope ofpractice for a Registered Nurse Recording patient care activities including assessment,reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patients’medical record. Using a variety of computer systems Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patient Providing patient and family education related to treatment,diagnosis, medications, discharge and self-care. Providing patient care following nursing standards of care in amanner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients,and promotes heath and healing. Oversight of LPN practices. Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English Must possess the ability to work under pressure, to adapt quicklyin changing situations, to function dependently and independentlyand to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a varietyof settings. Job Requirements Minimum Education Must possess an active TN RN license or a compact state licensewith the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days ofhire. Required Skills BLS

  • current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. ACLS
  • current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. PALS
  • current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. NRP
  • current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. STABLE
  • current or must obtain within 90 days from date ofhire. HWC (Handle With Care)
  • current or must obtain within 6 monthsfrom date of hire. Trauma Nursing Core Certification (TNCC)
  • preferred. Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification (ENPC)
  • preferred.
