03112 RN Intensive Care Unit STRHS-Lawrenceburg JobDescription 12.07.22 Report to the Director, the staff RN is aprofessional care giver who assumes responsibility andaccountability for a group of patients for a designated time frameand provides care to those patient via therapeutic use of self, thenursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and otherhealthcare team members. If assigned as charge nurse, will serve asresource for coordination of activities on the unit.
Responsibilities as charge include, but not limited to, assessmentof unit needs, available resources for current and oncomingshift(s) based on patient acuity, volume, individuals and familyneeds and special clinical procedures or interventions pending.

X 02 Professionals Essential Functions ? Performs plan of careintervention, including medication administration, specimencollection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical caretreatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being ofthe patient. Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process Plans and implements patient care and teaching based on the totalassessment and the age of the patient. Develop plan of care that is individualized for the patient needsreflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team,the patient, and the family as appropriate. Evaluates and documents the patient response; monitors andrecognizes changes in physiological and psychosocial status; takingappropriate action based on the assessment of the patient. Participates and cooperates in the unit-based Quality Improvementprocess. Supports, maintains, and provides an environment which issupportive of quality patient care based on best practice using aholistic approach to care, and by adhering to effectively usingresources and personnel. Practices, develops, and endorses customer service skills inrelationships with internal and external customers. Serves as patient and family advocate with respect to the patient’sright to privacy, autonomy, and dignity by protectingconfidentiality of information. Formulate individualized teaching and educational plan based onidentified learning need and evaluate the effectiveness of learningincluding the patient and family as appropriate. Qualifications:
Job Requirements ? MinimumEducation Must posses a current and active Registered Nurse License in theState of Tennessee. Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriate action.
RequiredSkills Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support(ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (BLS certification may be obtained within first week of orientationbefore patient care) (ACLS and PALS may be obtained within the first 3 months of hire)
Required Skills Licenses:
Current and active Registered Nurse License in the Stateof Tennessee.
