Pediatric RN Post -OP (Stepdown) Outpatient Surgery Children’s West Surgery Center Knoxville, TN 37922 Pediatric RN is needed for Post-Op (Stepdown unit) duties. This position requires a consistent, specific work schedule that is Monday through Friday. No call. No weekends. No major holidays. Competitive pay. Post-Operative (Stepdown Unit) Nurse Reports to :

Director of Nursing Job Summary :

A Registered Nurse with responsibilities for perioperative patient post surgical procedure. RN with great communication skills, provide comfort and care to patient and families. RN able to collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and team members effectively. Duties and Responsibilities Functions as a skilled Registered Nurse, providing direct patient care/teaching for patients in the Post-op unit. Is available Monday – Friday 7am to 5pm. The work schedule will vary based on the daily surgery schedule and patient census. Works closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists the day of surgery –Discharge teaching and instructions. Medication administration and monitoring of the patient. Follows post-op guidelines / criteria and promptly communicates concerns / special needs to appropriate team members. Promptly alerts the anesthesiologist if any problems arise during recovery. Serves as a positive role model for other Surgery Center employees, promoting a strong, positive team environment. Serves as an education advocate. Promotes a positive first impression of CWSC to our patients and their parents / caregivers. Exemplifies comprehension of nursing concepts and problem-solving skills. Performs any other duties that are requested by management that are within the staff member’s knowledge, scope, and ability. Skills and Attributes Demonstrates knowledge of pediatric ambulatory procedures and scheduling. Demonstrates proficiency with medication management and clinical assessment of the post-op patients.

prioritization, planning, assessing, implementing, evaluation, teaching, and documentation. Demonstrates effective working relationships with people, as well as the ability to listen and confer with personnel, practitioners, patients, parents, and the general public. Demonstrates ability to act efficiently and rationally in emergency situations.
