RN Emergency Services at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System- Pulaski summary: The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department providescomprehensive care to patients experiencing acute health issues.
This role requires effective communication with patients, families,and the healthcare team, as well as the ability to administertreatments and educate patients on their care. The RN isresponsible for maintaining patient safety and implementing nursingstandards to ensure optimal outcomes.
Description:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides directand indirect patient care. He/She applies the nursing process toplan and implement the care of patients, including patient andfamily education and continuum of care planning. The RegisteredNurse must possess good communication skills and must be able toeffectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients andfamilies. He/She works collaboratively with all members of thehealthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered. Essential Functions Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs ofthe patient. Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcareprofessionals to provide care to the patients. Establishing, reviewing, revising and following the patient plan ofcare Administering medications and treatments within the scope ofpractice for a Registered Nurse Recording patient care activities including assessment,reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patients’medical record. Using a variety of computer systems Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patient Providing patient and family education related to treatment,diagnosis, medications, discharge and self-care. Providing patient care following nursing standards of care in amanner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients,and promotes heath and healing. The ability and willingness to follow established Standards ofPerformance Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English Must possess the ability to work under pressure, to adapt quicklyin changing situations, to function dependently and independentlyand to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a varietyof settings. Must obtain HWC within 6 months of hire date
