The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides directand indirect patient care. He/She applies the nursing process toplan and implement the care of patients, including patient andfamily education and continuum of care planning. The RegisteredNurse must possess good communication skills and must be able toeffectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients, andfamilies. He/She works collaboratively with all members of thehealthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered. Essential Functions Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs ofthe patient. Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcareprofessionals to provide care to the patients. Establishing, reviewing, revising, and following the patient planof care Administering medications and treatments within the scope ofpractice for a Registered Nurse Recording patient care activities including assessment,reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patient’smedical record. Using a variety of computer systems Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patient. Providing patient and family education related to treatment,diagnosis, medications, discharge, and self-care. Providing patient care following nursing standards of care in amanner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients,and promotes heath and healing. The ability and willingness to follow established Standards ofPerformance Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English. Must possess the ability to work under pressure, to adapt quicklyin changing situations, to function dependently and independentlyand to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a varietyof settings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education Must possess an active TN RN license or a compact state licensewith the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days ofhire. Required Skills Must have current BLS/CPR certification within 12 months ofhire Must obtain ACLS within 12 months of hire PALS within 12 months of hire HWC within 12 months of hire
