03108 RN Emergency Services STRHS-Lawrenceburg JobDescription Report to the Director, the staff RN is a professional care giverwho assumes responsibility and accountability for a group ofpatients for a designated time frame and provides care to thosepatient via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, theenvironment/instrumentation, and other healthcare team members. Ifassigned as charge nurse, will serve as resource for coordinationof activities on the unit. Responsibilities as charge include, butnot limited to, assessment of unit needs, available resources forcurrent and oncoming shift(s) based on patient acuity, volume,individuals and family needs and special clinical procedures orinterventions pending.
Reports to:
Director of Emergency Services Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being ofthe patient. Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process Plans and implements patient care and teaching based on the totalassessment and the age of the patient. Develop plan of care that is individualized for the patient needsreflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team,the patient, and the family as appropriate. Evaluates and documents the patient response; Participates andcooperates in the unit-based Quality Improvement process. Supports, maintains, and provides an environment which issupportive of quality patient care based on best practice using aholistic approach to care, and by adhering to effectively usingresources and personnel. Must posses a current and active Registered Nurse License in theState of Tennessee. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. all may be completedwithin 30 days following orientation before patient care)
